Monthly motto January’19
“Start Now!”
Holy Scripture: Mt 25,35-36
“Because I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger and homeless and you took me in; I was naked and you gave me clothes; I was ill and you visited me; I was in jail and you came to me.“
Impulse:
The beginning of a new year is always the time of good intentions. Everyone knows it: you set high goals but after a few weeks you hardly remember it. Perhaps this is because these goals are often not really concrete or exaggerated by an ideal state in the distant future. Then, at the end of the year, the question arises again and again: what has actually remained of my great plans and new years resolutions?
The Bible gives us a great guide to changes that begin in the Here and Now and that really count in the end. Maybe someday it will happen to us like to the listeners of Jesus, who did not realize that through these concrete acts of charity they can meet Himself. But we can count on these actions to make the big difference in the end. So we should do it concretely and start to approach all people with love and mercy again and again: Start Now!
